Duane Long


Duane Long is the Chairman of Longistics, a full-service provider of global logistics solutions headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. Longistics provides trucking, warehousing and Foreign Trade Zone management operations.

In 1984, Duane and his wife, Pat, started Longistics, a trucking company, contracting with firms needing transportation services. Obsessed with service, safety and security, Duane made certain that Longistics became a certified ISO 9001:2008 provider, offering a highly specialized "Imperial Fleet" of skilled professional drivers dedicated to promoting world-class service to customers. He realized early on that technology would ultimately transform the trucking and logistics industries. His was one of the first trucking and logistics companies to establish a website and take advantage of cutting-edge Web technologies as they became available. Today Longistics' full complement of technologies includes supply chain visibility, satellite tracking, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), radio-frequency identification (RFID), a Web-based inventory tracking system and access to real-time data.

While working hard to continually expand his business, Duane has never neglected his civic, community and industry service. From 2001 to 2002, he was Chairman of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. After serving on the chamber's board for more than 15 years, Duane served as Chair of other committees, including Co-Chairman of the Regional Transportation Alliance. Today Duane serves on the board of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership, the North Carolina Railroad Company and the North Carolina China Center.

Duane was elected Chairman of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in 2014, and he has served on multiple committees for more than 15 years. He also has been actively involved in the industry trucking associations for more than 25 years. He is a past chairman of the North Carolina Trucking Association (NCTA) and is currently Chairman Emeritus of the NCTA Board of Directors. He co-founded the NCTA Foundation in 1994 and in July 2013 was made Chairman Emeritus of the foundation.

Duane and his wife, Pat, have been married for 37 years and are proud parents of Reverend W. Brooks Long who received an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, a Master's Degree from the Divinity School of Wake Forest University and a Master's Degree from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Duane's philosophy ranks faith, family, country and his enterprises as the motivating factors in his life.
