Manager of Global Business Development

Lisa Yuan is manager of global business development at Longistics, a full-service provider of global logistics solutions located in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Longistics has a worldwide reach and growing presence in China and other emerging markets, providing transportation, warehousing and Foreign Trade Zone management operations at FTZ 214, located in the Global TransPark near Kinston, N.C., and FTZ 93, located adjacent to the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

As manager of global business development, Yuan implements all project-related activities in China and participates in road shows for business development in North Carolina, building connections with different government bodies regarding imports and exports. She holds overall responsibilities for new projects development in China, including competitive analysis, market expansion, project negotiation, research for cold chain markets and support for benchmark studies.

Yuan led the project launch of Suzhou Industrial Park International Commodities Exhibition Center, in Suzhou China, which is a joint venture between Raleigh-based Longistics and China-based Suzhou Logistics Center. She is also helping to establish a trading company in Suzhou that aims to provide import and exports services , global sourcing as well as consultation for small and medium sized companies in North Carolina.

During an October 2009 delegation trip to China led by Gov. Bev Perdue, Yuan provided consultation and ground support to 10 North Carolina legislators, while Gov. Perdue and other North Carolina elected officials and industry leaders met with a number of key Chinese office holders and corporate representatives to identify partnering opportunities. The partnership between Longistics and SeAll will generate opportunities that accelerate the export of products and services from North Carolina and U.S.-based companies to China. Yuan started her career at Longistics as marketing analyst and has more than 10 years of industry experience.

Prior to Longistics, Yuan served an internship at Belcan Corporation in Houston, where she conducted profitability analyses across all business units and identified the units that were either driving profitability or incurring losses. Her audits resulted in a 60 percent income recovery on contracted business for the first six months, and the company awarded her "Awesome Client-Site Employee."

Before coming to the United States, Yuan lived and worked in Shanghai, China, serving as operations officer with Bayer Technology & Engineering. She directed deployment activities of projects across China and managed a nine-member team with responsibilities in service procurement, maintenance, security and fixed asset management. Other positions Yuan held in China include facilities supervisor for Picanol Group in Shanghai and assistant to plant manager at Taian Fook Huat Tong Kee Co., Ltd. in Shandong.

As a volunteer to the U.S. Committee of Refugee and Immigration, Yuan, teaming up with a friend, assisted a Congo family in settling down in Raleigh. She also initialized teaching English in Shanghai. She earned a Master of Business Administration in May 2009 from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Her undergraduate work includes a BSBA in business administration from Liaoning Technology and Engineering University in Liaoning, China in July 1999.

A native of Baishan city, Jilin province, in China's northeast, Yuan resides in Raleigh, while her husband maintains a residence in Shanghai but plans to join her soon.
